PRESENTATION

The Brazilian Society of Pediatric Neurosurgery (SBNPed), together with its partner institutions, is pleased to announce that Rio de Janeiro will host the second module – 5th cycle of the Latin American Course on Pediatric Neurosurgery (LACPN), which will be held from March 15 to 20, 2026, in collaboration with ASOLANPED – Latin American Association of Pediatric Neurosurgery and with the support of ESPN – European Society of Pediatric Neurosurgery, SBN – Brazilian Society of Neurosurgery, World Federation of Neurosurgical Societies – WFNS, Pediatric Neurosurgery Chapter of Flanc, and Brazilian Academy of Neurosurgery – ABNc.

The European Society for Pediatric Neurosurgery created and has promoted the course since 1986. LACPN has the same program and shares many of the teachers from similar courses held in Europe and Asia.

Currently, LACPN (Latin American Course in Pediatric Neurosurgery) is an official event of SBNPed and ASOLANPED to promote knowledge of Pediatric Neurosurgery throughout Latin America.

A scientific meeting of this magnitude is an excellent opportunity for the training and scientific updating of pediatric neurosurgeons.

Come and participate in the Latin American Course on Pediatric Neurosurgery 2026!

LACPN 2026 DIFFERENTIALS

The course is conducted in an immersion format over an entire week, alternating between lectures, hands-on sessions, and case discussions. It is structured in three modules that are part of one cycle, and after completing all modules, participants receive, in addition to the certificate for that module, a certificate of completion for the Latin American Course in Pediatric Neurosurgery, an important distinction for the continuity of their career and for integration as an associate member of SBNPed.

The 2026 edition will be the second part of the fifth cycle in Latin America. The order of completion of each individual part does not interfere with the final certification. Thus, a student can start with the third part and complete the course with the other parts later.

In addition, although the Latin American course has regular editions (the next ones are already being planned), it is possible to complete a cycle with parts taken in Europe or Asia, since the LACPN is organized within the same framework as its European and Asian counterparts.

LACPN teachers are leaders and specialists in various areas of Pediatric Neurosurgery from around the world.

A very pleasant environment and intense networking are also characteristics of LACPN. The event has been the source of great opportunities in terms of new partnerships and internships, reinforcing personal vocations and redirecting careers.
